PEIPIEPOE

Marc Jacobs has released a new foundation this year which claims to be a medium, buildable foundation with 24-hour wear and flashback-free SPF 25 for a youthful look. They have a colour selection of 29 shades ranging from light to dark. To find your specific skin tone, they start with either Y (yellow/warm based) or R (red/cool based).

I have actually purchased this foundation back in March and have had a good test run with it. The product comes in a a squeezy tube. I find with these you need to be a bit careful when dispersing products or you can go overboard. Often I like to start small then build my way up with foundation coverage.

The foundation also has an expiration date which allows you to keep track of how fresh it is. Compared to the standard 30mL, it comes with an extra 2mL. I would say that it will give you around a few weeks worth of use use. Was quite surprised in terms of the expiration date because most companies just give a generalised month on how long the product is fresh for.

Shade

The shade that I purchased was Y210 which is described as a light with yellow undertones. It is a tad lighter than a MAC Studio Fix foundation in NC20. Overall its workable for me. I have done a comparison of shade swatches against other foundations. One is in natural light and the other one in direct sunlight. I was very close to choosing Y270 but it was just a tad darker. Both are workable. The shade Y270 would be very close to NARS Sheer Glow in Fiji.

Shade comparison between Y210, Y320 and Y420

Cost

The product retails for $46.00 USD and $70.00 AUD. If I had to convert it would be around $2.19 per 1mL of product. Product was purchased from Sephora Australia

Texture

The texture is quite powdery for a liquid foundation but does apply on smoothly. It blends very well into the skin without it feeling heavy.

Application

Foundation was best applied with fingers or brush.

Wear Time

I've worn this whilst exercising and my face still looked like skin. Based on experience it works well on its own but would not last as long as with a primer.

Without Primer - 4 hours
With Primer - 6 to 7 hours

The primer I tried with this would be the Hourglass Veil Mineral SPF 15. This held it up quite well and my foundation still looked like skin.

Coverage

Coverage was more light but buildable to a medium. Definitely not a full coverage foundation.

Made in

Foundation was made in the USA.

Recommendation

This foundation is more for an everyday wear. I can confirm it even out my skin tone making it look like my skin but better. I had no issues with blending and the oil control is quite good. I usually get oily around my nose but this held up for 4 hours without my nose shining. This is where I did not use a primer. I did not find that it sat on my pores. Even though it said it is self setting, I would still recommend setting the foundation with a powder if you are more on the oilier side. I did not feel the foundation was heavy or dry on my skin. I exercised with this foundation (very sweaty) and it still held up very well. The packaging is plastic, so people who are prone to dropping things you do not need to worry about breaking this foundation. Unless you have it opened and stepped on it. That would be a different story. Overall, it has become one of my favourite foundation to use on a daily basis.

Improvements

Honestly the one thing which I was iffy about was the claims "a first-to-market SPF technology that creates no flashback in photos and no ashy, grey undertones in the formula." Ok, so the flashback wasn't as bad as other foundation aka Estee Lauder Double Wear. It was still a bit lighter than usual with flash.

The VDL - Real Skin Foundation is described as a lightweight premium foundation that captures the radiance of your skin and enhances skin's natural glow. This foundation has SPF 30, PA++ and contains 30 mL of product. A break down of my experience with this foundation and how well it wears.

Shade

The shade I've received was in A03 which is described as a neutral undertone. They have 6 shades in total. Despite it being a neutral undertone, it blended in quite well into my skin as I am on the warmer side. If I had to compare, this would be close to an NC20 - NC25 in the M.A.C. studio fix.

Cost

The cost of this foundation retails for $59.00 AUD and can be purchased from Boniik Beauty.

Texture

This has a very light weight texture. It can be built up to a medium coverage without feeling too heavy. When blended in, it looks like your second skin and will appear like you are not wearing any foundation. Despite it having a thinner consistency, it did not emphasise my pores or texture.

Wear Time

This foundation has a good wear time of 6-8 hours without the product breaking down.

Made In

Foundation was made in Korea.

Recommendations

For this foundation, it would be more suited for normal to dry skin type. Despite being more on the combination side of things, I did enjoy wearing this for when my skin was feeling more dry. It did not emphasise any texture and glided on smoothly. If you are oily and would like to try this foundation, you will need to use an oil controlling primer and will need to set it with a powder. The VDL - Real Skin Foundation does look like my skin but better with a luminous glow from within.

Improvements

One of the things in which this foundation can improve on is the shade range. The darkest it goes up by I would say is a M.A.C. studio fix NC30/NW30.

In terms of my skincare, if I find a product that I like, I tend to stick to it or buy back ups. Skincare is usually one of the hardest things to recommend mainly because of the time that it goes into it. Also skincare is determined by what solution you are looking for. This may be to hydrate the skin, improve skin texture or evening skin tone. My skin type is combination so I have to switch up my routine depending on the seasons.

I have also became a beauty ambassador for Boniik Beauty as of recent. They sell both Korean Skincare and Makeup. This I love because I can test them out in stores rather than purchasing it online.

They have an in house store located at:

Shop 42G Westfield Pitt Street Mall (Under Myer), Sydney NSW 2000.

Face Creams

Nature Republic - Super Aqua Max Combination Watery Cream

This cream I use during summer or in the morning. It has a very light texture and keeps my oils are bay. The thing with skin that produces more oils is because there is lack of hydration so the skin will then overproduce. Using a hydrating cream helps combat this by hydrating within.

Innisfree - Green Tea Balancing Cream

This cream I would use more during winter or when my skin is feeling a lot more dry than usual. It smells just like green tea and keeps my face moisturised. This cream is still recommended for combination skin. In their green tea range, they have others for oily and dry skin. The Innisfree one is a lot more moisturising than the Nature Republic cream.

Serums

The Face Shop - Yehwadam Pure Brightening Serum

This product was gifted by Boniik Beauty to test out, which I am currently loving. I really like the scent because it smells very sophisticated. Product wise, it actually sinks into the skin quite quickly. Since using it my face does feel a lot more brighter and even textured overall. As I do break out around from time to time, this serum helps out combating any pigmentation. This I use in the morning and for all seasons.

Innisfree - Green Tea Seed Serum

The Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum is one of their best sellers and I can tell why. For all you dry skin people, this actually helps hydrate your skin by providing the moisture you need. I use this during winter and can confirm it has actually helped with making my skin less dry. My skin feels a lot more plump in the morning when I apply this the night before.

Toner

COSRX - AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner

Toners are great for bringing back the pH into your skin after cleansing. This toner also helps exfoliate my skin at the same time due to the AHA/BHA ingredient. In doing so, this sheds out my old skin cells. This helps with combating pigmentation as your skin does go through a life cycle of its own. Very much like a menstrual cycle.

Face Mists

Mario Badescu - Facial Spray with Aloe Cucumber and Green Tea

I am not too big of a rose scent fan so opted purchasing the Mario Badescu spray in Aloe Cucumber and Green Tea. This feels very refreshing on the skin and be used as a toner as well. This face mist keeps my face hydrated without my skin overproducing any oils. I use this after my skin care has been complete for that extra moisture.

Treatments

Klairs - Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop

I have been looking for something to combat pigmentation specifically and this product does it. If you have sensitive skin however, I would not recommend it as it does tingle due to the high concentration of vitamin C in the product. This does the job very well and can be used to target specific areas. Or even the face overall to improve skin tone. When using this, I would need to use sunscreen the next day so it is effective.

COSRX - Centella Blemish Ampoule

If you have blemishes on your skin, you will love using this. Not only does it minimise pores, it also helps with hyper pigmentation on your skin. I find the product very soothing to use. Usually I would add this to my creams to improve overall skin tone. I have been going back and forth with this product and the Klairs - Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop. The difference between the COSRX and Klairs is Klairs is more effective in evening out skin tone. Both products are still good.

Oils

Kiehls - Midnight Recovery Concentrate

I believe oils should be used irregardless if you have oily skin. Reason for this is they are very effective for adding extra moisture in which, helps combat any excess oil and sebum. This will make your face less oily as it makes up for the lack of hydration. This is my second bottle as it makes my skin look brighter the next morning and I've had enough sleep. The 30mL product actually lasts for quite a while as you only need a few drops.

Lip Sleeping Mask

Laneige - Lip Sleeping Mask (Berry)

Love using this because it keeps my lips very hydrated. Not only so, its very effective if your lips are dry or flaking. The Berry scent is a nice addition to it as it smells like berry flavoured candy. I will be repurchasing this but in a different scent. Since using this, my lips have dried out less. It is more effective than any other lip balms in the market.

Eye Cream

Innisfree - Orchid Eye Cream

Since hitting 20s, I thought I should invest in some eye creams. This is the first one I've tried and I do quite like it. It keeps my eyes quite hydrated and it is not heavy. Overall, it increases more elasticity so I look less tired the next day. I would say that using this product, I only saw results after one month of using it.

Oh man, I can't believe it has been more than 4 months since my last post.

Sorry guys life got ahead haha.

Anyways following onto the last of the 2017 most used series, these will be about the lips and what my most used was. Towards the end of the year I started to like using glosses more. I have always had the assumption that they would be tacky. Not until I tried the Fenty Gloss Bomb (which I included in this post). Here are a list of my most used lip products in 2017:

Liquid Lipsticks

Huda Beauty - Liquid Matte Lipstick

My favourite shade from this is bombshell. These wear very comfortably on your lips and are non drying. They have a nice vanilla scent. In terms of formula, they are one of my favourite mainly because of the colour range they have and how well it lasts on my lips without drying them out.

NARS - Velvet Lip Glide

These liquid lipsticks are actual lipstick in liquid form. They are more of a hybrid of gloss + lipstick. The shades pictured are playpen, bound and stripped. The mini ones are from the Mecca anniversary set which I believe is sold out :( If you do not like wearing matte liquid lipsticks, I'll recommend giving these a go.

Lip Liners

M.A.C. - Lip Pencil

You can never go wrong with a M.A.C. lip liner. There are two formulas which I've been using throughout the year. One is the normal Lip Pencil formula. I would suggest using the M.A.C. Prep + Prime Lip for a more smoother application. The shade Oak is literally one of the best nudes you can have on. Its very similar to what Kim Kardashian wears. One the other hand, the Pro Formula you just apply it on as it is. Lip liners help the lipstick last longer throughout the day. These can also be applied with gloss on top.

Bullet Lipstick

Charlotte Tilbury - Hot Lips

If its one bullet lipstick I've used throughout the year the most, it would be the Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips. I've purchased three shades to try out. Ended up loving all three of them. Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks has two different formulas: one being a soft matte and the other being a cream. They do not sink into my lip lines. My favourite shade would be Super Cindy which is described as a Taupe Nude.

Lip Gloss

Fenty Beauty - Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminiser

If I had to use one gloss for life, it would be the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb. This lip gloss can be used on top of other lip products or by itself. To think there is a one shade fits all, it would be this. I am so glad I have this a chance because I started being more into Lip Glosses. They also have a mini one which comes with their killa watt highlighter in the shade Hu$tla Baby.

Lip Balm

Dior - Addict Lip Glow

This is a tinted lip balm which warms up once you apply it on. The shades I have used are 001 Pink and 004 Coral. They enhance your lip by bringing out your natural colour. These are very hydrating and its my go to makeup days for when I'm feeling lazy. I am currently onto my third tube for this.
